Future SW Patterns   Workshops

(Location and dates TBA)

The Wardrobe Module:

Putting the Pieces Together + Fabric Swap

Learn to plan and put together a chic coordinated wardrobe module for career, community, retirement or travel.  Start with what you have, sew some pieces and purchase what’s missing.  This fabulous wardrobe formula will save you time, money and the frustration of “lots of clothes but nothing to wear.”  Gain the skills and confidence to build a wardrobe that suits your lifestyle.

No sewing.  Homework prior to the workshop is required. Bring up to 5 pieces of fabric to trade or sell.

Pants fitting

On the quest for perfectly fitting pants?  This workshop will help achieve that goal.  Participants will leave the class having created a sample pair of custom fitted, elastic waist OR fitted waist pants from either the Sewing Workshop Valencia (pull-on) or Mimosa (fitted) pattern. You will leave the class with a versatile pattern that can be used again and again for a variety of pant styles. Participants will need to cut out and baste together pants in advance of class.

The Essential Jacket

Choose an attractive unlined jacket pattern: the Sewing Workshop Liberty, Quincy or San Diego.  Each design flatters all body types and is successfully made in a variety of fabrics by those with average sewing skills. You will leave the class with a near completed jacket, enhanced skills and the confidence to make another. Before this workshop participants will choose the pattern, cut out the garment, mark and apply the interfacing and be ready to fit and sew.

Knits & T-Shirts

Learn about the characteristics of various knits, how to select suitable knits for different garments and the tips and techniques to sew and finish a terrific t-shirt from either the Sewing Workshop Urban (without the “drape”) or Trio pattern.  Gain confidence as you measure, cut, fit and sew the garment.  You will be inspired to create many more tees’ in a variety of styles, necklines and sleeve types.  Patterns will be chosen in class after viewing samples and fabrics.

Participants will provide their own sewing machines plus a basic sewing kit (tape measure, scissors, pins, thread, etc.).  More details about the workshops and patterns will be provided upon registration.
